Sweet cake: Vanilla Buns
My mom cut selected recipes from magazines and glued them to her little plug, which I sometimes supplemented, so now I own many old, traditional, special, great recipes from our area.
From the Croatian magazine “World” I present a recipe of the original name “vanilla buns” to which I did not want to change the title because it is very cute.
300 g of soft flour
200 g butter
100 g ground nuts
80 g sugar
a pinch of salt
3 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon of rum extract
1 vanilla sugar
100 g sugar powder
The above measures are for ~ 42 rolls.
The nuts should be inspected and cleaned from fragments of the shell that are always stuck, and ground them on a machine or in a chopper. Remove the butter from the fridge earlier. Prepare a baking tray and set up baking paper. Sift flour.
In a bowl, crush 2/3 of the butter flour or rub each other. Leave 1/3 of flour to add and mix later. Whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt, then add the flour and butter. Add in succession: milk, sugar, rum and nuts, then knead firm and non-sticky dough.
Turn the oven on to 175 ° C.
Take pieces and roll walnut-sized balls from the dough, which roll out and roll the tips slightly. Arrange on prepared pan. Put the buns in a preheated oven and bake for about 15 minutes with constant monitoring. When the tops of the buns turn yellow, remove the pan from the oven.
Immediately roll roasted buns into powdered sugar mixed with vanilla sugar.
